Wren Urban Nest was a clear front runner for our debut Sustainability Award, responding to the climate and biodiversity emergency through a progressive design response aligned with the WGBC Advancing Net Zero framework. Driving down embodied carbon impacts through careful specification, and packing an impressive arsenal of passive and active measures into one compact urban site, Phillip Gray, Head of Sustainability, shares his remarks:
“When compared to peers and benchmarks, the Wren Urban Nest has set a new standard for hotel design. Its highly efficient design, extensive use of bio-based materials and all-electric servicing strategy deliver a demonstrably low-impact development. All aspects of its design are based on careful and considered analysis, from an engineered façade that manages solar gain and minimises losses, to the whole life impact of building elements balanced with their influence on building services systems. The team are committed to tracking performance in use to extract valuable performance data, which will be hugely valuable in supporting the hospitality industry in meeting its net zero carbon commitment.”
